Lucid Motors is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the announcement of three new midsize models set to launch starting in late 2026. CEO Marc Winterhoff revealed the company’s plans in a recent discussion with Autoblog, marking a significant step beyond the Gravity SUV that was previously unveiled.
The upcoming models will share a common platform but offer different body styles, with the first model expected to be an SUV. Priced around $50,000, Lucid aims to compete directly with Tesla’s popular Model Y. Following the SUV, two additional midsize vehicles are slated to debut within 18 months, allowing Lucid to cater to a broader range of customers.
Earlier this year, Lucid expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of the Gravity SUV, which starts at $94,900 for the Grand Touring trim. A more affordable Touring trim priced at $79,900 is expected to enter production later this year. Despite strong demand for the Gravity SUV, production delays have impacted delivery timelines, putting financial strain on the company.
While Lucid secured significant funding last year and in April, additional financing will be necessary to bring the new midsize lineup to market. With Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund holding a majority stake in the company, analysts anticipate further financial support from the kingdom.
In addition to its midsize expansion, Lucid has embarked on other initiatives, such as partnering with Uber to launch a global Robotaxi network and setting a new world record for EV driving range with the Lucid Air. However, the company faces challenges in a competitive EV market as growth slows in the U.S. and new rivals like Chinese automakers enter the scene.
Despite these obstacles, Winterhoff remains optimistic about Lucid’s future, emphasizing the company’s commitment to electric vehicles as the way forward. With a focus on innovation and market expansion, Lucid is poised to make a significant impact in the EV industry in the coming years.
