The Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV has surpassed its gasoline coupe and convertible siblings in sales for the year 2024.
Ford’s latest sales report revealed that the Mach-E recorded 51,745 sales, while the gasoline Mustang saw 44,003 sales. This marks a 26.9% increase for the Mach-E compared to 2023, while the gasoline Mustang experienced a 9.5% decrease.
Despite being the last V-8 pony car following the discontinuation of the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger in 2023, the Mustang faced supply chain issues with its 2.3-liter turbo-4 engine, leading to low inventory levels in the latter half of 2024. This is not a new challenge for Ford, as they had previously prioritized Mach-E production over gasoline Mustangs during a chip shortage in 2021.
The Mach-E has consistently shown strong sales performance since its launch, quickly gaining popularity in the market. Its success can be attributed to its swift delivery to dealerships and Ford’s commitment to high-volume production.
The Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck, a departure from the traditional gasoline model, also saw decent sales in 2024 before production was temporarily halted. However, it remains a small portion of overall F-150 sales.
