- EVs to Offer Gasoline Range-Extenders, Undergoing U.S. Regulatory Testing
Faraday Future is set to showcase prototypes of its new affordable electric vehicles at the upcoming CES 2025 event in Las Vegas from Jan. 5-7.
The prototypes belong to a new sub-brand named FX (Faraday X) as outlined in a September presentation to investors. The company plans to introduce two models, FX 5 and FX 6, with prices ranging from $20,000 to $50,000. Both models will be available with fully electric or gasoline range-extended powertrains.
These price points are significantly lower compared to Faraday’s current production model, the FF 91 electric SUV, which is listed at $309,000. The FX sub-brand will operate differently, focusing on an asset-light strategy similar to the now-defunct Fisker brand, with minimal marketing and online-only sales.

Faraday announced in a press release that the FX prototypes have been shipped from Beijing to Los Angeles and have arrived in the U.S. The next phase involves transporting them to the company’s manufacturing facility in Hanford, California, for further development and testing.
Updates on the FX rollout will be provided at CES, with Faraday targeting a production start in 2025 pending adequate funding. A recent financing commitment of $30 million from institutional investors has been secured to support the EV maker’s operations.
Faraday Future FF91
Faraday’s history has been marked by leadership changes and delays in product launches. The company faced financial challenges that prolonged the release of the FF 91 model, which was first showcased at CES 2017 but only delivered to customers in August 2023. The upcoming FX EVs aim to achieve higher production volumes compared to the flagship FF 91.
