The Tesla Cybertruck has been touted as a vehicle that is dent-proof, rust-proof, and even bulletproof. However, some owners have found out the hard way that this may not always be the case. One such owner, based in Detroit, recently discovered this after his electric pickup truck was dented by another vehicle just a few weeks after taking delivery.
The dent, located on the lower part of the driver-side door on the factory crease that extends to the rear wheels, prompted the owner to seek a repair quote from a Tesla collision center. To his dismay, the estimate came in at a hefty $3,000, with a significant portion allocated to the cost of a new door panel.
Undeterred by the high repair cost, the owner decided to take matters into his own hands and attempted to fix the dent at home with the help of a friend. The initial attempt using a sturdy suction cup proved unsuccessful, as the cup would not stay attached to the body panel, leaving the dent untouched.
Undeterred, the owner then tried heating the steel panel and applying glue sticks to the damaged area, hoping to pull the dent out by hand. Unfortunately, this method also failed to yield the desired results.
However, a second attempt using the suction cup on a warm panel proved to be the charm, as the dent was successfully fixed. The entire repair process was captured on video, showcasing the owner’s DIY approach to fixing his Tesla Cybertruck.
Ultimately, the owner’s perseverance and resourcefulness paid off, saving him a significant amount of money in repair costs. This incident serves as a reminder that while the Tesla Cybertruck may be advertised as virtually indestructible, accidents can still happen, and it’s always handy to have some DIY skills up your sleeve.
