Ford Achieves Record Sales for Hybrids and EVs in November
Ford has reported record-breaking sales for hybrids and electric vehicles (EVs) in November, as well as for the first 11 months of the year. The automaker sold nearly 11,000 fully electric models in November alone and has sold almost 85,000 EVs so far this year. Ford’s performance in the EV market has positioned it as America’s second best-selling EV brand, trailing behind Tesla but facing increasing competition.
The strong sales figures in November are a continuation of the momentum that Ford built in the third quarter. The company’s electrified vehicle sales, which include hybrids, EVs, and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), totaled 257,693 units in the first 11 months of the year. November saw a 21% increase in EV sales compared to the same month last year, with demand being particularly high for models like the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit.
The Mustang Mach-E has been a standout performer for Ford, with 5,983 units sold in November alone, marking its best-ever monthly sales. The model has sold nearly 45,000 units in the U.S. so far this year, making it the second best-selling electric SUV behind Tesla’s Model Y. The F-150 Lightning also saw strong sales in November, with a record 3,643 units sold, contributing to a total of 28,313 units sold through November.
While EV sales are on the rise, Ford’s hybrid models continue to be significant volume sellers for the brand. The Maverick and F-150 hybrids have collectively sold 133,983 units this year, with the F-150 hybrid and Maverick hybrid contributing 67,666 and 66,272 units respectively.
Competition in the EV market is heating up, with models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Honda Prologue, and General Motors’ Chevy Equinox EV gaining popularity. Despite uncertainties surrounding federal EV tax credits, consumers can expect more choices and improved EV offerings in 2025.
Ford’s success in the EV market is a testament to the brand’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. With a strong lineup of electric and hybrid vehicles, Ford is poised to continue its growth in the rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
