Nissan Ariya owners are in for a treat as they will soon have access to Tesla Superchargers. By the end of 2024, North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters will be made available to Ariya drivers, allowing them to charge at Tesla Supercharger stations. This move by Nissan aims to provide more convenience and options for Ariya owners, significantly increasing the number of public charging locations available to them. In addition, starting in 2025, Nissan will offer EVs for the U.S. and Canadian markets with a NACS port, further expanding charging capabilities for electric vehicle owners.
Rivian and General Motors are already offering NACS adapters to their EV drivers. Rivian is providing the adapters for free to its customers, while GM charges $225 per adapter. It is yet to be determined if Nissan will follow suit and charge Ariya drivers for the adapter. This development comes on the heels of Nissan’s launch of the Nissan Energy Charge Network, which aims to enhance charging services for EV owners. Through this network, Nissan Ariya owners can use the MyNissan app to locate charging stations, check real-time charger availability, and make payments for charging services.
The Nissan Energy Charge Network includes over 90,000 fast chargers across the United States, with stations from popular providers like Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, and EVgo. This extensive network ensures that Ariya owners have access to a wide range of charging options, making it easier for them to recharge their electric vehicles on the go.
Overall, the introduction of NACS adapters for Nissan Ariya owners to access Tesla Superchargers marks a significant step towards expanding charging infrastructure and providing more convenience for electric vehicle owners. With the growing focus on sustainable transportation, initiatives like these play a crucial role in promoting the adoption of electric vehicles and reducing carbon emissions.
