Polestar has officially started delivering its first U.S.-built electric vehicles to customers, marking a significant milestone for the brand.
While previous Polestar models were manufactured in China, the 2025 Polestar 3 is now being assembled at a South Carolina plant shared with Volvo. Production of the Polestar 3 began in August after experiencing some delays related to software.

First U.S. Polestar 3 deliveries
The Polestar 3, a platform-mate of the Volvo EX90, offers a sportier character with two rows of seats and seating for five. It boasts up to 315 miles of range from a 111-kwh battery pack and features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with impressive performance figures.
With a base price of $74,800, the Polestar 3 falls under the federal tax-credit cap for electric SUVs. However, due to stricter sourcing requirements and new disqualifying criteria, it may not qualify for federal tax credits in the near future.

First U.S. Polestar 3 deliveries
Polestar has decided to pass on a $7,500 credit for leases, utilizing an EV leasing loophole to benefit customers. This strategy allows automakers to claim credits intended for commercial vehicles and extend the savings to customers, even if the vehicles do not meet other eligibility criteria.
By manufacturing cars in the U.S., Polestar can avoid tariffs on Chinese EVs. The upcoming Polestar 4, a coupe-like model for the U.S. market, will be produced at a Renault plant in South Korea starting in the second half of 2025 as part of a more complex solution to trade challenges.
