BYD, a prominent Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, is making waves in the industry with its cutting-edge technology. The company recently showcased the capabilities of its new Flash charging technology and second-generation Blade Battery by conducting an extreme test on the Denza Z9GT luxury EV.
In a bold move, BYD subjected the Denza Z9GT to freezing temperatures of -22°F (-30°C) for a full 24 hours. This extreme test was designed to demonstrate the resilience and performance of the car’s advanced battery technology in harsh conditions. Following the deep-freeze test, the car’s Blade Battery was fast-charged at an astounding rate of 1,500 kilowatts using BYD’s Flash chargers.
The results were nothing short of impressive. BYD claims that its second-gen Blade Battery can charge from 10% to 97% in just 12 minutes, setting a new standard for rapid charging in the electric vehicle market. The Denza Z9GT’s range was boosted to nearly 626 miles (1,009 kilometers) within this short charging window, showcasing the efficiency and speed of BYD’s charging solutions.
It is worth noting that BYD deliberately leaves a 3% buffer during charging tests to accommodate regenerative braking after a quick Flash charging session. This precaution ensures that the battery can handle the additional energy generated during braking without risking overcharging.
Comparatively, other electric vehicle manufacturers like Mercedes-AMG have also made strides in fast-charging technology. The latest Mercedes-AMG GT can accept up to 600 kW when charging from a DC stall, achieving a 10% to 80% charge in just 11 minutes under ideal conditions. However, BYD’s achievement with the Denza Z9GT sets a new benchmark for rapid charging and battery performance in the EV industry.
BYD’s commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology is evident in its latest demonstration. The successful test of the Denza Z9GT luxury EV in extreme conditions highlights the company’s dedication to providing efficient, reliable, and high-performance electric vehicles to consumers worldwide. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, BYD’s advancements in charging technology and battery development position the company as a key player in shaping the future of sustainable transportation.
