Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg has reached a significant milestone, producing 750,000 vehicles since its establishment in March 2022. The factory, located in Grünheide, Germany, has primarily focused on the assembly of the popular Model Y SUV.

To achieve this milestone, the plant has melted 95,000 tons of aluminium and employed 800 robots to execute over 2 billion welding spots. Tesla’s manufacturing lead, André Thierig, has expressed the factory’s ambition to produce its first million cars. In order to accelerate this goal, Giga Berlin is expanding its production capacity by 20%. This expansion entails hiring new staff and adding shifts to build on the success of a record-breaking first quarter in 2026, which saw over 61,000 vehicles manufactured.
In a modern and innovative approach to the delivery process, newly completed Model Ys are now equipped with Full Self-Driving technology, allowing them to autonomously drive out of the factory doors to the holding lots. This cutting-edge technology mirrors the practices already implemented at Giga Texas. Tesla is actively recruiting new talent to support this latest increase in production volume.
