Elon Musk Confirms Tesla Will Sell Cybercab for Less Than $30,000 by 2027
Elon Musk recently confirmed on X that Tesla plans to offer a version of the Cybercab for less than $30,000 by 2027. This announcement came after the unveiling of the first Cybercab produced at Giga Texas.
Following Tesla’s milestone achievement, members of the Tesla community started joking about a wager made by popular YouTube tech reviewer Marques Brownlee (MKBHD). After the We, Robot event in October 2024, MKBHD expressed skepticism about Musk’s claim that the autonomous two-seater could be sold for under $30,000 by 2027.
During the event, MKBHD stated, “No, they’re not. There’s just no way that they’re actually going to be able to do that. I mean, if they do, let’s say they do, I will shave my head on camera because I’m that confident.”
With meme images of a shaved-headed MKBHD circulating on X, Elon Musk responded to the skepticism by affirming that Tesla will indeed sell the Cybercab to consumers for $30,000 or less before 2027.
Additionally, Musk acknowledged that the initial production of the Cybercab at Giga Texas may be slow due to the vehicle’s innovative features. He mentioned that while early production rates might be sluggish, they will eventually ramp up significantly. “For Cybercab and Optimus, almost everything is new, so the early production rate will be agonizingly slow, but eventually end up being insanely fast,” Musk explained.
