Tesla has once again ventured into the world of spirits, this time with a unique design-focused twist. The company has quietly introduced the Tesla Mezcal | Design Studio Edition in the U.S., priced at $450. This limited-edition bottle embraces Tesla’s design philosophy, featuring a specially crafted box sleeve adorned with early bottle sketches and the printed signatures of Director of Product Design Javier Verdura and Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen.
To add an extra layer of collectability, 50 boxes have been personally signed by Verdura and von Holzhausen, with these autographed editions randomly allocated to orders. The Tesla Shop product description describes the mezcal as “smoky and floral with a smooth finish,” celebrating Oaxaca’s artisanal Tahona-milled mezcal using a unique alembic distillation process that combines the flavors of native Espadín and Bicuishe agaves. The result is a delicate yet spicy mezcal with notes of citrus, green apple, herbs, and a subtle smokiness, finishing with hints of tuberose, jasmine, and chamomile for a velvety mouthfeel.
The hand-blown glass bottle sports a rich black finish inspired by Oaxaca’s Barro Negro pottery tradition. Designed by Verdura as an homage to his Mexican heritage and upbringing in Mexico City, the bottle’s hand-molded form celebrates Oaxacan culture, family values, and craftsmanship.
This release marks Tesla’s latest venture into branded alcohol, following the successful launch of Tesla Tequila in 2020 and a limited-edition set in 2022. Like its predecessors, the Design Studio Edition is produced in limited quantities and is exclusively available for delivery in select U.S. states. Purchasers must be 21 or older, and all sales are final.
If you’re intrigued by the Tesla Mezcal | Design Studio Edition, you can place your order directly from the Tesla Shop online. However, given the high price point, limited production run, and the opportunity to receive one of the 50 personally signed boxes, this exclusive offering may not remain in stock for long.
