Subaru has been making waves in the electric vehicle market with its Solterra model, selling over 12,000 units in the U.S. last year. With a 21% increase in sales in the first six months of this year, it’s clear that the company’s customers are embracing EVs. To cater to this growing demand, Subaru has introduced a new electric crossover called the 2026 Subaru Uncharted.
The 2026 Subaru Uncharted was recently unveiled in New York City, showcasing its sleek design and impressive features. Built in collaboration with Toyota, the Uncharted is the twin of Toyota’s C-HR, which has been hailed as one of the coolest EVs from the Japanese automaker. Set to join Subaru’s electric lineup alongside the Solterra and Trailseeker, the Uncharted is expected to hit the market early next year.
One of the standout features of the Uncharted is its dual powertrain options. The front-wheel-drive version offers over 300 miles of range with 221 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive variant matches the C-HR with 290 miles of range and 338 horsepower. Both models boast a speedy acceleration time of less than five seconds from 0-60 mph.
In terms of charging capabilities, the Uncharted comes equipped with a Tesla-style charging port that allows access to over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers across the country. While the charging speed is capped at 150 kilowatts, it is on par with other EVs in its segment and offers a convenient 10-80% charge in about 30 minutes. Additionally, the Uncharted features battery preconditioning for optimal charging performance.
On the design front, the Uncharted exudes a futuristic and elegant vibe, setting it apart from its gas-powered counterparts. With signature LED daytime running lights, sleek lines, and sporty accents, the Uncharted is a stylish and eye-catching crossover. Inside, the cabin offers a comfortable and upscale environment, although there are some minor gripes such as the obstructive steering wheel and lack of smartphone grip on the charging pads.
Despite these minor flaws, the Uncharted promises a spacious and comfortable interior, suitable for both driver and passengers. With ample headroom and legroom, even taller individuals will find the backseat accommodating. The cargo space, while slightly smaller than some competitors, is still sufficient for everyday use.
As Subaru prepares to launch the Uncharted in early 2026, pricing and final specifications are yet to be announced. However, it is expected to fall in the $40,000-$50,000 range, positioning it as a stylish and sporty rival to other electric crossovers in the market. With the federal tax credit set to expire soon, Subaru’s new models will need to stand on their own merits to attract customers. Only time will tell if the Uncharted can live up to the hype and drive Subaru’s electric vehicle sales even further.
