The 2026 Lexus ES is making waves as it transitions to electric power. Unveiled at the Shanghai auto show, the new ES will be available in both hybrid and electric versions. The electric lineup includes the front-wheel-drive ES 350e and the all-wheel-drive ES 500e. The big news is that the 350e is targeting an impressive EPA-rated range of 300 miles, while the 500e aims for 250 miles of range. Both models promise powerful performance, with the 350e delivering 220 horsepower and the 500e boasting 338 horses.
Toyota, the parent company of Lexus, is revamping its electric vehicle lineup with more serious efforts after the lukewarm reception of their initial EV offerings. The new Lexus ES is part of this initiative, joining models like the Toyota bZ4x and Lexus RZ in the electric vehicle market. These new models have been redesigned for the 2026 model year to offer improved range and value for consumers.
One standout feature of the 2026 Lexus ES is its Tesla-style charging port, known as the North American Charging Standard or SAE J3400. This port allows for adapter-free charging at Tesla Supercharger stations, expanding access to a wider range of electric vehicles. The ES is also equipped to charge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes when connected to a powerful DC fast charger.
The Lexus ES will be available for purchase next year, marking a significant step in Toyota’s electrification efforts. With a focus on range, performance, and charging convenience, the 2026 Lexus ES is poised to make a splash in the luxury electric vehicle market.
