General Motors Recalls 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Due to Cruise Control Issue
General Motors has announced a recall of all-wheel drive versions of the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV due to a potential issue with the adaptive cruise control system. The recall affects 2,890 electric vehicles and is in response to a software problem identified by the NHTSA.
The NHTSA has reported that an “incorrect software calibration” of the brake control module is preventing the adaptive cruise control from engaging the brakes when needed. While the system may attempt to slow the vehicle by cutting power, it may not be sufficient to prevent a collision.
Drivers of the affected vehicles are advised to be extra cautious when using adaptive cruise control and to be prepared to manually apply the brakes if necessary. The NHTSA warns that there may not be enough warning to slow the vehicle in time to avoid an accident.

Dealers will be providing a software update to address the issue with the brake control module at no cost to the owners. GM has assured that all affected vehicles are under warranty, so customers will not need to seek reimbursement.
Owners of the recalled vehicles can expect to receive notifications by mail starting on Mar. 3. In the meantime, they can contact Chevy’s customer service department at 800-222-1020 and reference recall number N242481530 for more information.
This recall is the second for the 2025 Equinox EV, following a previous recall in December 2024 related to the pedestrian warning system. The Equinox EV, which debuted as a 2024 model, has expanded its offerings for the 2025 model year, including a more affordable version with increased EPA range.
